The Emerge Learning Corporation (Emerge) is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of personal information of members of the public, our clients and individuals who register in any of our training courses or professional development offerings.
Emerge may collect personally identifying information about you, only if you provide it voluntarily. We gather data when an individual registers, re-registers or re-certifies for any of our training courses or professional development events. By applying for registration, re-registration or re-certification, Emerge will assume the applicant has consented to the collection and use information for purposes of tracking attendance, course participation, progress and reporting results.
All Emerge sites have security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. Our host servers are password protected for administration and authoring purposes.
Emerge is responsible for the personal information under its control and has designated our course/event administrator as the individual who will ensure compliance with this policy.
Although our ability to provide service requires that we collect this personal information, we take measures to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of that information. Any personal information you do provide is managed according to the Alberta Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act . This means that, at the point of collection, you will be informed that your personal information is being collected, the purpose for which it is being collected, and that you have a right of access to the collected information. Should a registrant wish to withdraw consent for the use of information, Emerge needs to be advised.
Personally identifying information is information that can be explicitly used to identify and/or contact you as an individual. This includes information like your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, credit card number, etc. Information that, by itself, cannot be explicitly linked with your "real" identity is not considered personally identifying.
Personally identifying information that you provide to Emerge will not be made available to third parties outside of Emerge Learning without your explicit permission. Our commitment to safeguarding your privacy reflects the federal privacy legislation that came into effect on January 1, 2001.
Users should be aware that when you are on the Emerge website, you could be directed to other sites which are beyond our control. There are links to other sites from the Emerge website pages that take you outside our service; this includes links from advertisers, sponsors and partners.
The Emerge website's policy does not extend to anything that is inherent in the operation of the internet, and therefore beyond the Emerge website's control, and is not to be applied in any manner contrary to applicable law or governmental regulation.
If we change our Privacy Statement, we will post those changes on this page so our users are aware of what information we collect, how we use it and under which circumstances, if any, we disclose it. Users should check this policy frequently to keep abreast of any changes.
